Camp Manager/Director

General Requirements: We are looking for an individual, or couple without children, with a heart for Christian camp management as outlined in “Duties and Responsibilities” below.  Warning, this is not a ministerial position per se, but rather a business-, building- and grounds management position. We expect to fill this position immediately and have the new Christian Manager on site by September 1st 2017.

Compensation: Position includes $1,300 Monthly Salary, Housing and utilities.  Sorry, No (company paid) Health Insurance at this time.

Purpose: To oversee, administrate, maintain and ensure successful operation of Golden Valley Camp, Inc., a ministry of Evangelical Methodist Church, in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of Evangelical Methodist Church.

Position Reports to: President, Golden Valley Camp, Inc. Board of Directors

Duties and Responsibilities – with estimated time allocations

Administration 30%
1. Coordinate the scheduling of camp use in accordance with church policy.
2. Complete contracts with groups requesting use of the camp.
3. Maintain integrity of the collection of deposits and payments from individual or group use of the camp.
4. Process receipts, payables and payroll for the camp in a timely manner, using QuickBooks accounting software.

5. Prepare Payroll Reporting to state, federal, and employees.

6. Maintain Camp’s website – particularly the area depicting availability

7. Prepare Financial Reports for the Board of Directors as needed.
8. Welcome individual campers and groups, establish lodging assignments, and provide direction/assistance to campers as necessary.
9. Commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of the camps operations.
8. Other miscellaneous office duties as necessary.

Maintenance 50%
1. Ensure the beautifully-forested camp with buildings is well maintained.
2. Create and maintain an on-going preventative maintenance program including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, landscaping and general maintenance.

Kitchen Operation & Oversight 20%
1. Plan, order groceries and prepare quality, cost effective meals in a timely manner for 20 to 100 campers.
2. Supervise and coordinate employees and/or volunteers to run different aspects of the camp kitchen and snack bar (including menus, purchasing, cooking, serving, etc.).
3. Achieve and maintain health department certification in food preparation (Safe Serve Certificate).

1. Supervise and coordinate temporary/seasonal employees and/or volunteers to run different aspects of the camp.
2. Ability to hire, train and terminate employees.

1. Good interpersonal skills, able to work with volunteers and employees.
2. Able to adhere to internal policies and external rules & regulations (i.e. US Forest Service requirements, labor laws, health department, etc.)
3. Work within the financial and resource limitations of the camp.
4. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
5. Must be able to take initiative, yet be a team player.

1. Special projects as assigned.

1. Maintain a vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ through study of the Word, prayer, and worship.
2. Lead and shepherd spouse and children as God has commanded in his Word.
3. Utilize spiritual gifts and professional experience to further the kingdom of God.
4. Adhere to Evangelical Methodist Church’s statement of faith,

5. Have a desire to serve all ages in full-time camp ministry;

6. Make each group feel special and want to return

7. Submit to a background check

8. Not mind being out by them selves

9. Be able to work independently as a problem solver yet also be team oriented.

1. Experience supervising 1-4 seasonal employees
2. Experience working with a minimum budget of $100k and remaining accountable for the outcome.
3. Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred.
4. Two or more years of Camp Experience required.
